Modifier /Hydride Chain Extenders (Coupling Hydrides)
SiSiB® HF2030 are SiH-terminated polydimethylsiloxanes. They react as a chain extender and reduce the crosslink density and thereby also the hardness of the cured material. They are also used to increase tear strength and elongation of Platinum Addition Cure Silicone Elastomers.
As with all room temperature cure silicone elastomers, the mechanical properties of the unfilled vulcanisates are rather poor, but can be improved considerably by addition of appropriate fillers such as carbon black, fumed or precipitated silica and other fillers well known to formulators with expertise in compounding silicones.
